Day 1 • Departure from the U.S.A./Arrival Mexico City
We begin our journey as we board our plane for our flight to Mexico City. Upon arrival, we are met by Signature Tours International representatives who take us to our hotel. We have Mass and dinner and stay overnight in Mexico City.
Day 2 • Mexico City
We have Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We then tour the Basilica, where the Tilma of Juan Diego is located, and the hilltop Chapel of Tepeyac, where the history of Our Lady’s visit to Guadalupe will be related. Dinner and overnight are in Mexico City.
Day 3 • Mexico City
Day 3 • Tupetiac
Today, we visit Tupetiac, the site of the Fifth Apparition. A church, known as the Church of the Healing, is built over this spot. We have lunch at “Teocali” Restaurant and then visit San Juan Teotihuacan, the most widely known archeological zone in Mexico. Here, we see the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, the oldest structures in the area. Then we visit the 16th century monastery, Acolman, before dinner. Overnight is in Mexico City.
Day 4 • Tlaxcala
We travel to Tlaxcala to visit the Shrine of San Miguel del Milagro, where St. Michael the Archangel appeared to Diego Lazaro de San Francisco in 1631 and told him of a miraculous spring. Then we travel to Ocatlan. It is here that the Blessed Virgin appeared to Juan Diego Bernadino in 1531. It is believed that the Blessed Virgin Mary burned an image of her perfections into the trunk of an old oak tree, and since then, Mary has been honored as Our Lady of Ocatlan, Our Lady of the Oak that Burned. We return to our hotel for dinner and the night.
Day 5 • Mexico City/Hometown, U.S.A.
We have Mass at the Basilica and then depart to the airport for our return flight home to the U.S., taking with us many wonderful memories!
